Hi, I'm jornalist in Brazil and I'd like to publish in the education magazine the letter "Mary had a little lamb". I'd like to know if this music is public domain or not. The Beatles had published the song. So, they have the copyright?
Thank you very much for your help

Paul McCartney and Wings released this as a song in 1972 and the song (i.e. music and added/changed words) is still in copyright.

Mary had a little lamb has been a popular nursery rhyme for many years. It was taken from a children's poem that was first published in 1830 and this poem is in the public domain. It may be found at http://www.archive.org/stream/poemsforourchild00haleiala#page/6/mode/2up
